6036 S Corning Avenue, Los Angeles, California 90056

The Corning House. In a neighborhood where the best homes rarely reach the market, 6036 S. Corning is a true one-of-one: a mid-century ranch in Lower Ladera Heights, remodeled top to bottom in 2023 with high-end materials, thoughtfully elevated by its owners since, and one of the very few homes in Ladera Heights proper with a legal, permitted ADU. Floating concrete steps rise through a sculptural garden of agave, columnar cactus and palms, washed in landscape lighting after dark, to a quiet, light-filled interior of wide-plank white oak floors, hand-troweled plaster and white oak slat screens beneath skylit ceilings. The floor plan is the home’s great gift: living, dining and kitchen sit at the center as one open space and open through walls of black-framed glass to the pool, while the bedrooms are set apart down their own hall for privacy. Every main room faces the backyard, so the outdoors is part of every moment. The kitchen, the heart of the home, centers on a newly redesigned fluted white oak island built for maximum storage and seating, with a five-burner gas cooktop, wall oven and soft greige cabinetry with brass hardware. The primary suite is a calm retreat with a brand-new spa bath featuring dual vessel sinks, a custom oak vanity and a frameless glass rain shower. The main house offers four bedrooms in all: two more are served by design-forward baths in stacked tile, brass and terrazzo, one with a deep soaking tub, and the fourth, a flexible room with its own full closet, is currently styled as a boutique walk-in dressing room and works just as well as a bedroom, office or guest room. Outside is pure vacation, Palm Springs by day and Tulum by twilight: a completely redone pool with sun shelf and new spa, lounge and dining terraces, a built-in grill and lush tropical planting from an extensive landscape renovation. Across the water, the vaulted ADU offers a full kitchen, a pass-through bar window to the patio, its own bath and sliders to the pool, ideal for guests, an office, a studio or income. Owner improvements include a new roof, new primary bath, redesigned kitchen island, redone pool with added spa and extensive landscaping. Minutes to Culver City, Playa Vista, Silicon Beach, LAX and the 405. Gorgeous, move-in ready and finished down to the last detail.
