1128 Fremont B, South Pasadena, California 91030

OPEN HOUSE: 10/15 (5:30 PM-6:30 PM), 10/17 (2 PM-3 PM), 10/18 (11 AM-12 PM). Thursday evening in South Pasadena belongs to the farmers market, blocks of vendors under old trees beside the Metro A Line platform at Mission and Meridian. This home sits a short walk from it, in a timeless 1910 duplex set behind a front porch. Unit B, the upstairs unit, is a two-bed and one-bath apartment. The rooms are the generous, separate kind classic houses were built with. Wood floors run throughout an updated interior. An arched doorway opens the living room to the dining area and kitchen. Two generous bedrooms, one with a walk-in closet, and a 3/4 bathroom to share. There is a closet at the entry, which the houses of this era got right. Laundry hookups are in the unit. A sun room at the back catches the late light, and the deck beyond it steps down to the yard. Fremont Avenue runs under a canopy of street trees here, a few blocks from Mission Street, where the Fair Oaks Pharmacy has kept its soda fountain since 1915, and the Meridian Iron Works building has stood since the town was a stop on the Santa Fe line. Garfield Park lies east on Mission with gazebos, tennis courts, and summer Sunday concerts. Library Park pairs a green lawn with the old Carnegie library. The Arroyo Seco opens to the west, where the trail runs under the Colorado Street Bridge. Nicole’s Market and Cafe, Gus’s BBQ and Fiore Market Cafe are all in the district. South Pasadena Unified serves the city; tenant to verify school assignment. The A Line runs south toward Union Station and north into Pasadena, and the 110 is close for anything further out. Day to day, most of what you need is on foot: the market on Thursday, dinner on Mission, the park on Sunday. Set the groceries on the counter, open the back door, and let the afternoon come in through the sun room. Water, sewer, and trash are included, and the landlord maintains the front yard. Tenant pays electricity and gas. Gas is on a shared meter, billed as a proportional share by unit size and occupancy until the meter is split. This unit is offered without on-site parking and backyard access. Street parking only.
